Welcome to the BSHS Drama Department!

My name is Janey “Jay” Turner, and I am excited to be here as the new drama teacher for Boiling Springs High School!

We produce a straight play in the fall which runs the weekend before Thanksgiving, and we produce a musical in the spring which runs the first weekend in May. Students audition to be in the production classes where they will learn all aspects of theatrical production.

Students are expected to strive for excellence both on stage and off stage. They must work together to create a production where everybody has responsibilities. By the time we open to the public, the students can run the show themselves.

We also offer Theatre I classes where students can get a taste of the theatre to decide if they would like to audition for a play or to just become an educated audience member.

All of the plays from now on will be staged in the auditorium in the main campus. This will be the first production for the new stage, and I’m sure the students are very excited to bring this stage and the plays to life for you.

As a drama nerd myself, having started acting and singing at a very young age, I’m delighted to be teaching the students of BSHS and sharing my love of drama and the arts. If anyone has any questions about the department or our shows, I am fully willing to discuss anything about them with you. Here’s to a fantastic year in Drama!
