About Us

Boiling Springs High School (BSHS) is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northern portion of Spartanburg County in the Upstate Region of South Carolina. One of two high schools in Spartanburg School District Two, BSHS serves the Boiling Springs community as well as those areas west of the line dividing Boiling Springs areas schools from the Chesnee areas schools.

Spartanburg County School District Two is widely considered as an outstanding area to raise families because of its prime location near the intersection of both Interstates 85 and 26, the ease of access to the metropolitan areas of Charlotte, North Carolina, Greenville, South Carolina, and Atlanta, Georgia, and the close access of major transportation facilities. Additionally, Spartanburg County School District Two is regarded by many as an outstanding school system with an impeccable reputation.

BSHS has a diverse student population that is reflective of our community as a whole. Our student population is currently 64% Caucasian, 19.7% African American, 6.7% Hispanic, 4.3% Asian, and 3% two or more races, and 2.3% other. Additionally, we have a growing Multilingual Learner population of over 350 students.

The faculty of BSHS is comprised of 144 teachers. Our student/teacher ratio is currently at 20:1. As part of our professional staff we have a full-time Literacy Coach, a full-time Math Coach, and a shared ML Coach. Our Special Education Department consists of 12 classroom teachers and 7 instructional assistants who provide a rigorous and relevant education for those students with IEPs through supplemental assistance for resource diploma students as well as through the District Occupational Program for certificate students. Our school counseling staff includes a Director of School Counseling, Registrar, 4 grade-level specific counselors, 2 Career Development Facilitators, and one School Counseling Clerk. We are fortunate to have an outstanding front office staff to welcome our staff, students, and community to Bulldog Nation. 3 nurses and 3 School Resource Officers are on campus to care for and protect our staff and students. Our administrative team consists of our principal, a Freshmen Director, 7 assistant principals, and an Athletic Director. We have a very qualified professional staff. The majority of our teachers hold advanced degrees and we are blessed with educators who constantly seek to learn more about their profession in order to improve their teaching skills.

Our school is fortunate to have parents and community members who share our goal of providing an outstanding educational experience for all of our students. Whether it is an academic, athletic, or artistic event, our activities are well attended by both family members and community stakeholders alike. Their support is unwavering as can be seen by attendance at Parent Conference Nights, the Friday night football games, community events such as the Fall and Spring Festivals, our Fine Arts Performances, and so much more. We have unique strengths and challenges associated with the community we serve. Among our greatest strengths is that all stakeholders are supportive of the high standards we have set for our students and are active in working with us towards our goals.

Our Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and District Office personnel are unfailingly supportive of our initiatives and stand behind us as we strive to provide the necessary resources to achieve our goal of educating every student every day to the highest of his or her unique abilities. With continued focus on the goals at hand and with the dedicated and continued support of our teachers, staff, families, students, and community members, Boiling Springs High School will continue to be an outstanding school!
